I really loved this article Eddie.
How often I regret selling off the ft-897. I hope your old one find its way into my life again someday. If not I may build a new 20w portable solution around the ft-857.
I think the only part of this article that I’m skeptical about, is using the 7A slab. Understandably if I’m only out for an afternoon doing radar, not having to carry much other gear, this combination works very well. But if I’m having to carry my gear along with radio equipment, the battery is always going to be the place where I can reduce weight.
On the topic of batteries my Ultra Pack is nearly ready for Autumn radar. 🙂
Great article Eddie keep them coming.
